Liberty View Farms, an hour and a half north of New York City, is part apple orchard and part paradise.  I drove up yesterday with Paula Crossfield and her friend Melanie to celebrate the Farm’s tenth anniversary.  We arrived just as the sun was setting behind the acres of organically grown apple trees, setting their branches into silhouette between the horizon and farmer Billiam’s perfectly organized vegetable plots.  Billiam graciously showed us around his 100-year-old chicken coop (full of heirloom chickens; the walls decorated with old paintings), and his newest goats.  Despite their little hooves and horns, I jumped the fence to introduce myself.  With small, organic farms ever-fighting to stay in business, congratulations and many happy returns to Billiam and Liberty View on a decade of excellent eggs and empire-state fruits!
