On bicycle from Bariloche, Argentina to the Chilean border 50 km from Esquel and Trevelin, I was prepared to find food of the usual camping-kind: pasta, granola and pine needles. Gee. Yum.
Happily and to the contrary, Andy and I found many gourmet ways to invent a better life on bike and tent. A few highlights included Rosa Mosqueta (wild rosehips), Mora (blackberries) and Frambuesa (raspberries) by the side of the road. We also ate some Hongos (mushrooms) of a sweet, meaty texture, and one fabulous breakfast of Quinoa grain cooked with pasas de uva (raisins) and sweet apples with melted creamy honey from El Bolson.
